A Peculiar Review for Peculiar Children

It's about time we young adults got a book with pictures!

Hello, everyone!
I am pretty sure you have seen this book around!

If you haven't, well you are in for a treat! Or maybe not. You don't know what I am rating this book yet.

Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Rigs is full of secrets, creepily beautiful antique photos, and of course, peculiar children!

In the book we follow Jacob, a teenage boy from a rich family, who has one friend (not really), and a grandpa, who told him the most amazing stories when he was a child. (I believe you grandpa!) After tragedy ensues, Jacob finds he must go to the island where his grandfather grew up, leading him to an abandoned orphanage and peculiar pictures. Upon further investigation, Jacob discovers that the children from the photos, may still be alive...

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars! Why? Because I found it refreshing to read something different and does not have an over used plot, (i.e. Twilight) but still has everything you could possibly want in a Young Adult novel.

If you are looking for a book that has secrets to uncover, humor, and will creep you out in the middle of the night, (because you could have sworn you just saw the shadow of a Hollowgast, and had to have your older sister go downstairs with you because its dark, just so you can get some allergy meds), then this book is for you!

This book was very enjoyable, and I am crawling out of my skin to get my hands on the sequel!

It was hard to put down!

Before I go, I shall leave you with some quotes from the book:

“When someone won't let you in, eventually you stop knocking.” -Jacob's Father

“How many times have I told you? Polite persons do not take supper in the nude.” -Miss Peregrine

“I used to dream about escaping my ordinary life, but my life was never ordinary. I had simply failed to notice how extraordinary it was.” -Jacob

Evil Moms!

Good day, everyone!

I am happy to show you the latest Listopia rankings for 'Witch In The Woods'!

Witch In The Woods made it to third place in:

And second place in:

Only Available on Kindle/E-Reader

Now here is what I am really exited for! Witch In The Woods is first place in:

(Here's the one that tickles me)

Yay! First for Evil Moms!

Aside from that, we finished going over Clearly's Corruption, and I just sent it to my cousin yesterday, who is a professional editor, because she's awesome! Woo hoo! I also sent one to my mom, and last night she found a typo. I decided to fix it this morning, but here is what's strange. The typo is not in my document! Well, it was, but it wasn't!

I can only chalk up the typo my mom showed me as a dream, because this morning, instead of finding a half written sentence that should have been deleted, the typo actually turned out to be one word I forgot to put in. In other words, my brain is malfunctioning and soon you will probably see me running down the street dressed as a leprechaun, arms flailing and yelling, "The squid wants to eat my brain! Flee for your lives, or the pineapple will get you too!" Oh, the things I have to look forward to...

That's all for today, but come back soon! I will be posting again before too long!

The Latest News...

Hello, wonderful readers!

As promised, I bring you the much anticipated update! I shall reveal to you the release date to Clearly's Corruption, as well as the cover art for said eBook.

I had quite a challenge making the cover art for this one. I guess I expected it to flow from my pencil like the first one, but that was not the case here. So many ideas, so few that I actually liked once on the paper. As soon as I drew this last version, I knew it was the one. I finished the editing on my computer in a day, but realized that I seriously was not happy with it. It needed something. It was just too... White. It needed to be darker... I finally finished it today!

And now for the moment you all have been waiting for. Mark your calenders, for I am releasing my book on June 13! That is just a month away! I cannot begin to express how excited I am to have my second book coming out so soon! I am still working on the synopsis, so it will be a little while before you get to read that... I was ill prepared for this awesome moment. I admit it, I have been procrastinating...

I also got to take an interview on Awesomegang.com, and it was posted today! Please follow the link below to check it out!

Thank you all for waiting patiently for this particular update. The wait for Clearly's Corruption is almost over!

The Eye of Divinity!

Good day, readers!

I have recently read a book called, 'Knights: The Eye of Divinity' by Robert E. Keller. It is the first in a series, and you can find it for free on Amazon if you are interested.

It is about a young boy named Lannon who lives in a valley with his sick, crazy father and ill-tempered mother, before three knights arrive looking for new recruits. By sight, they see that Lannon is scrawny, and is not knightly material. But then they discover that Lannon has a gift; one so powerful and rare, that it could save the kingdom of Dremlock from the goblins and the Deep Shadow, which threaten to destroy the legendary kingdom. Lannon possesses the Eye of Divinity. (I was very relieved when Lannon was recruited, because his father was bipolar and his mother liked to complain about how she is the only one who works. This was the best thing that ever could have happened to boy.)

The knights take Lannon back to Dremlock to become a squire, and learn how to unlock the Eye in order to save the kingdom. Along with his friends, Lannon discovers that not even Dremlock in safe from the Deep Shadow, which has infected the hearts and minds of those around them, making them question if anyone in Dremlock can be trusted.

I know it's a good book when it engages me enough to suddenly start talking to the characters, as if I am their conscience that they never listen to. "That's not a good idea Lannon, don't do it... You did it! Why didn't you listen to me?!" Meanwhile my mom is sitting next to me on the couch, probably thinking I'm insane.

My favorite characters were Furlus and Taris, the tower masters and two of the three knights that recruited Lannon. I envisioned the dwarf and wizard as the Gimli and Legolas duo in this series.
Cordus, the third knight, and also the Lord Knight, would probably be Aragorn.

I give this book four out of five stars, and I cant wait to read the next in the series. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good fantasy.

Thanks for reading my book review! I know you all are probably wondering about my own book, and how it is coming along. My mom and I are a little over half way through the editing. We would have been almost finished with it by now, but this last week was pretty crazy! However, we should have it done sometime in the next week!

Before I leave, I thought I would inform you all that next week I will put up another post, revealing the cover art as well as the release date for Clearly's Corruption! The wait is almost over! See you all next time.

Cover Art Update!

Welcome back!

I am almost finished with the cover art for Clearly's Corruption. It is all drawn out and shaded, and now all I have to do is get it in the computer and edit it! But I don't want to leave you all hanging, so here is a preview of the cover! Or an extreme close up...

What are your thoughts? Does it peak your interest?

During all this editing, and drawing out the cover, I realized that I haven't written a synopsis for Clearly's Corruption yet. Darn it... Never the less, I shall have one written out soon. It is probably the hardest part to write, because you are condensing your 50,000 word novel into a 140-300 word paragraph, yet keep it interesting enough to hook readers.

I know this was a short post, but short is often better! Now I have to go write a synopsis, but I'll have another post up next week!

Cover Art!

Hello!

I have started working on the cover art for Clearly's Corruption and with any luck, I'll  have it done by next Monday. I am staying with the silhouette theme of the first book, and when I am done, I shall post the picture on here!

I have been telling everyone that I wanted to get the cover done this month, and when I saw the date, I had a panic attack! "Holy cow, what have I been doing all month?!"

What have I been doing all this time?!

Editing. That is what I've been doing... Editing.

Speaking of which, I have realized that it is a big fat contradiction, for it is going both fast and very slow! It's only going slow because I have been taking stuff out and adding things in. Basic editing...

In other news, Witch In The Woods has topped another list on Listopia!

If you have a Goodreads account, feel free to vote on the lists! Here is a link to the other lists my book is on, if you are interested in checking them out!

I am also happy to tell you all that I have lowered the price of Witch In The Woods to its final price of $2.99! That's right, I said $2.99! And no, your eyes are not failing you! Mwah ha ha!

If you have read Witch In The Woods, would you mind leaving me a rating and review on Amazon and in the comments below? Reader's reviews, whether good or bad, is a big part of the success of an author! Your review could even make it into my blog!

Self publishing has been quite a learning experience, and though I am still on the up hill climb, (it feels like Mount Everest) with every passing day I get closer to my goal. I would like to take this moment to thank everyone for their helpful advice and support. Especially you, mom! Just know that it is truth when I say this could not have happened without you! I drew this picture to show my appreciation to all of you! (It started off as a doodle, but then I thought: "Hell, this is pretty good!")

And now, for what you all have been waiting for, I am about to reveal the name of my sequel! Which I am actually surprised that I haven't done yet... Drum roll please! And the name is:
"Witch In The Woods: Clearly's Corruption"

I am interested to know what your thoughts are about the name?

I am almost half way through the pre-edit of it, and shall soon have my agent lady (mom) do a read through before doing the final edits! This month I also plan to start working on the cover art! Busy, busy, busy!
